What is OBOC?
One Book, One Community supports reading, celebrates books and writing, promotes Canadian writers, and builds a sense of community through the shared experience of reading. OBOC encourages people in Waterloo Region to read the same book, discuss it, attend an event, and meet the author. The book and author are announced annually in April with author events planned for September.

Question: Are local book clubs involved?
Answer: Local book clubs are highly encouraged to read the One Book selection, discuss it at their meetings and take part in a variety of region-wide programs.
Question: Is there a fee charged or is registration needed for the author events?
Answer: All author events in September are free of charge and generally registration is not required. Other special events related to the One Book celebrations may have costs or registration involved, depending on the situation.
